🏞️ Plot Summary:
Set in the rugged Montana frontier, These Thousand Hills tells the story of Albert Gallatin “Lat” Evans (Don Murray), a poor but ambitious cowboy who dreams of escaping his humble origins to become a respected rancher and politician. With the help of his loyal friend Tom Ping (Stuart Whitman), and financial support from a kind-hearted saloon girl named Callie (Lee Remick), Lat begins his climb to prosperity.

As Lat’s wealth and social standing grow, he begins to turn his back on the very people who helped him. He distances himself from Callie in favor of society woman Joyce (Patricia Owens), and adopts increasingly self-righteous attitudes.
