📖 Plot Summary:
Duel in the Sun is a sweeping Technicolor western epic, often dubbed the “Gone With the Wind of the West.” The film follows Pearl Chavez (Jennifer Jones), a young woman of mixed heritage, who is sent to live with distant white relatives after her father is executed for murdering her mother.

She ends up on the sprawling McCanles ranch in Texas, where she becomes entangled in a volatile love triangle between the virtuous Jesse McCanles (Joseph Cotten) and his wild, dangerous brother Lewt (Gregory Peck). As Pearl struggles to define her identity and morality, the men around her see her as either salvation or temptation.

Gregory Peck played one of his darkest roles ever as the villainous Lewt—a huge departure from his usual heroic parts.
